The New Year and the Dreaded Resolution

Yes, we are just two days away from ringing in a new decade.  This is the time of year when we all ponder our resolutions....those critical changes that we are going to make to magically transform our lives into what we think we want.  Yes, losing weight, cutting down on sweets, increasing our exercise, paying more attention to our friends and family and making our relationships more meaningful.  You know you have made these resolutions several times....you can admit it, we all do it.  So what really makes a resolution stick?

I'm not sure I know but this year, as I enter the next decade, I have decided to change the way I look at resolutions.  Don't worry, I'm still going to increase my exercise, cut down on carbs and lose weight.  More importantly, I am going to make a resolution to really think about my actions this year.  When I say think about my actions this year, I would like to be more conscious of myself this year.  I want to begin to pay more close attention to what I am doing, who I am doing it with and where it will take me if I continue.  Yes, that means paying attention to my career, my family/friends and if the choices I am making will take me where I want to go in my life.  Yes, it is time to "consciously take stock" of what I am doing, where I am going and how this is making me feel about my life.  The question is how?

Well, that is the adventure of life, isn't it.....stay tuned and you can take this journey with me.  The journey to being healthy, honorable and getting to my goals.  My hope is that we will all learn something along the way....
